The Watering Wand Story
As a petite 5'2" gardener working in Sydney, Australia, I faced a unique challenge. I was contracted by a pub to keep all their hanging pot plants looking lush and healthy, but these pots were everywhere—dangling from the ceiling in spots far away from any garden hose or tap. To make things even more challenging, the areas needed to stay dry, with no spills or slip hazards, and I had to stay safe too—no clambering on stools or ladders for me!
Determined to find a solution, I rigged up a long hooked watering wand out of high tensile wire and PVC tubing that attached to my garden sprayer, allowing me to reach every plant safely and easily. As I went about my work, the pub's patrons couldn't help but notice and marvel at my makeshift invention. "What a great idea!" they exclaimed. "You could sell that, luv!" And just like that, the Watering Wand was born.
